What is Resilience Coaching?

Resilience coaching will help you develop your own capacities to be resourceful and creative, to make choices, and to take effective action, no matter what is going on. This means that you will move through the process of coaching building your own resilience and strengths. As your coach I am here to help you develop and grow, and to support you in creating more resilience, happiness and balance in your life.

What happens during a coaching session?

Coaching sessions typically take place over the phone or Skype so that you never have to worry about missing a coaching session while traveling. Sessions run between 30-60 minutes depending on which format you have chosen. During your session I will ask you about what you want to get out of life, what areas you’re unhappy with and where you’d like to see yourself ending up. As your coach I will challenge or reflect upon certain ideas to help you move forward with your life. You will never be forced to make any decisions you don’t feel comfortable with and all sessions will be confidential, allowing you to explore your thoughts and feelings privately. At the end of each session we will craft Groundworkthat will help you create action steps to move forward towards your goals in the time between coaching sessions. Groundwork is where the real work of coaching takes place.

How is coaching different from counseling?

The fundamental difference between counseling and coaching is that counseling usually investigates the past; it’s concerned mostly with “how you got here”, whereas coaching focuses mainly on the future and works to grow self-generation, strengths and resilience so that you can create the life you truly want to be living. As your coach, I do not diagnose or treat any health-related problems, although if the situation arises I may suggest you see a medical professional.

How many coaching sessions will I need?
Coaching addresses both creating awareness of old habits which may have taken years to develop, and building sustainable new habits and awareness. Depending on whether you are addressing a specific or broader topic, coaching typically starts with a commitment to 12 sessions. This is generally the minimum requirement to create real sustainable change for yourself. You may choose to coaching for longer depending on how what goals you are addressing.
So that the sessions can easily fit around your schedule, we’ll coach over the phone or via the Internet. During your Clarity Session, we will talk about how many sessions are likely to address the change you desire to make and will put together a coaching plan that suits your individual needs.
How can I tell if it's a good fit?

Coaching is a relationship and you need to feel comfortable being open and honest with me as your coach in order for coaching to be effective. I’d like to get to know your goals and what brought you to coaching, through a short application. Once we determine that life coaching would be a good fit for you at this time, we will setup a Clarity Session, where you will also get a taste of what coaching with me is like and together we can decide on a program that would be most effective. You are never obliged to continue, beyond the application or our initial conversations if it doesn’t feel like a great fit for you.
