There’s an old mentor of mine who used to say all the time,

“The greatest risk is in not changing, the greatest risk is staying in the known and doing things the way we have always done them”. I’ve always thought that was a really powerful idea.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_single_image image=”24696″ img_size=”large” alignment=”right”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][mk_blockquote style=”line-style” font_family=”PT+Sans” font_type=”google” font_size_combat=”true” text_size=”25″ force_font_size=”true” size_smallscreen=”25″ size_tablet=”21″ size_phone=”18″]SOMETIMES TAKING RISKS AND CHANGING YOUR BELIEFS ABOUT THE WORLD AND ABOUT YOURSELF, IS SCARY AND CHALLENGING.[/mk_blockquote][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1514325459359{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]

Re-evaluate the risk.

I try to go back to this idea once a year and take a good hard look at where I might be clinging to ideas that feel safe or ones that I am really reliant upon. Often I’ll write up a list of these and look them over. I do my best Scrooge impersonation, trying to see which ones are actually costing me something to continue doing.

Each year a few get tossed into my mental garbage bin. With the free space I gain, I take some time to brainstorm new approaches, ideas and beliefs. I look for where taking some risks can move me closer to my goals.  A new list gets written and pinned up for the next 30 days so I can keep myself moving forward.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”40px”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”3/4″][vc_single_image image=”24698″ img_size=”large” alignment=”right”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_separator color=”black”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1511554933674{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]You can never really know what risk you might actually be taking.

Re-new your commitment to take a risk

Sometimes taking these risks and changing my beliefs, about the world and about myself, is scary and challenging. Other times it an exhilarating process that wakes me up and gets me moving big time. No matter what, I know that taking the time to re-evaluate and take some risks, keeps me on my toes and more in flow with my life goals.

Go on, take a risk and give this a try. When you do, hit me up in the comments. Let me know what risks you took and how they worked for you.
